I was wondering why it is that mulberries are so rarely seen. They are quite an attractive tree, with the bonus of tasty fruit - though you may get squashed purple fruit on your lawn/pavement. ...

Too much of summer has passed without making a summer pudding, so it time to put this right. The first blackberries are ripe now, and there are kilos of wild plums hanging heavy in the hedgerows, so you can use some of those if you like....

Would you believe, I spent about eight years of my life in Yorkshire and never until this week have I had a curd tart. I made up for past deficiencies by eating four of them (not all at once!)....

Apparently Marks and Spencer are selling the first British mange tout on the high street. Up till now supermarkets have only sold it from Kenya and such-like, and it is generally flown here, generating more carbon dioxide by weight than the peas themselves weigh....
