I am thinking that you may well have a pumpkin which could have a second life after being carved into a jack-o-lantern. Curry is one of my favourite things to do with pumpkin, because the spices help to make up for the fact that on its own it can be somewhat bland. ...

I was at a party recently when I came across spinach and feta cheese-stuffed pastries. They are a Greek dish called spanakopita, and I have had them off and on over the years - but this reminded me how delicious and moreish they are. You can make them without dill if you can't get hold of any, but I think the dill helps them no end....

It is a happy coincidence that apples, celery and walnuts are all in season at the same time.
Waldorf salad is rather unfashionable these days but is actually deeply pleasurable when you have a good version....

This Middle Eastern-inspired dish is a beautiful dish to use the last of the English tomatoes of the year. There are a few steps to go through, but it really is worth the effort.

I find myself particularly irritated by a current advert for Kentucky Fried Chicken.
It shows some kind of deep-fried chicken product in a box, with the strapline, "Because your mother always told you to eat square meals". ...

Call me cheap, but when the Sun (which was in the office anyway) printed a coupon for a free sub from Domino's (which I was going past anyway), it seemed foolish to resist....

Had one of those moments when you have no idea what to have for dinner. The planned trip to the farm shop was rained off, so it was a case of staring into the store cupboards and fridge for inspiration....
