The wacky world of football. I know most of us in the office have had a little chuckle to ourselves over affairs at Newcastle United (minus the Magpies fans among of course), to the point where it has been a virtual sweepstake on who would be taking temporary chance until United sort themselves out.
If they eventually do, which is by no means a given.
George Graham, Glenn Hoddle, Bryan Robson, Ron Atkinson, Harry Bassett, David O’Leary – all the classics got a mention. Yet Newcastle managed to trump their own punch line.

Chris Lakey had a big run in too (okay, a slight exaggeration) regarding Norwich’s trip to Barnsley tomorrow.
City are playing in their away strip for the first time, heading to the Championship’s bottom side looking for a fourth straight win at Oakwell, with a real chance to close in on the leading pack – as Neil Adams says in tonight’s Evening News, the next three fixtures already feel pivotal in City’s season – against a side who have players returning from injury, including their first choice ‘keeper.
Of course, I agree with Chris that Norwich should win and football kits should not affect a team’s performance, only a fan’s superstitions beforehand. But still…
