Southampton and Norwich, all programmed
Saturday’s draw at Oakwell probably means Chris and I were both right (see previous post), which is the usual of course.
On the sportsdesk we get plenty of calls from people who want our opinion on what’s going on, as viewed from our perch as reporters.
So whenever Chris Lakey or David Cuffley are off doing their thing, it’s usually me who gets to spout off about Norwich City to whoever has asked.
The latest case in point was last Thursday when I took a call from a guy in Southampton who puts together their matchday programme.
Without quite knowing what I was getting myself into, I chatted for a few minutes on the feel around Norwich’s performances so far this season and their chances come May, as well as players to watch out for and my guess at naming the team likely to show up at St Mary’s (that’s what I remember anyway).
So this was all over the phone – even afterwards I couldn’t possibly tell you what I said – and I had to name a team, not only before Saturday’s draw at Barnsley and whatever that threw up, but also before any team news ahead of Saturday’s game in Yorkshire.
So they are my excuses. I expect it’ll get pretty heavily read on the way home as well. I’m looking forward to reading it myself.
