It's the NBA-Oh-A-Oh [repeat and fade]
It’s the NBA play-off finals over in the States at the moment –
wait, don’t groan – and this year could end up being one of the classic series of all time.
Firstly, you have the two franchises that made
the NBA what it is: Los Angeles Lakers v Boston Celtics.
Yes I know it’s a sport where, here in the UK, most get
bored with the amount of points scored.
But for me, there are few that carry such a stark expression of momentum.
And currently that momentum is with the
Lakers, who lead the series 2-1 after a superb win in the TD Garden on Monday
night got things back on home court advantage.
As I’m sure you know, the Lakers have a
play-off great in the shape of Kobe Bryant. Plus they are coached by Phil
Jackson, who may as well be made of NBA rings.
The two outfits have a rivalry stretching back
to the days of Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. The Celtics v the Lakers IS basketball.
And with this seven-game series nicely
poised, now is the time to watch a bit of B-ball at its best.
Even if it is at 2am on a Monday morning
our time.
