The last 12 months have seen fast-growing online furniture retailer extend its operations from the web to the high street with the opening of its first store in Thetford.
The firm was founded by Kevin Johnson in 2003 using only his garage for storage and has seen yearon- year sales growth ever since - rising to become one of the UK’s largest online furniture retailers. “We have managed to deliver double-digit growth on last year’s trading despite tough times in a tough market,” Mr Johnson said.
“January saw the first physical store being opened in Thetford, which has added a new dimension to the way in which we trade and certainly been a change. It’s created a great opportunity for scaling the business.”
Sales have grown from £1.8m in 2005, to £7.2m in 2008 to about £9m. Pinesolutions featured in The Sunday Times Fast Track league of the UK’s 100 fastest growing firms in 2008.
A new operational board for the business has been created with experienced directors.
But rapid growth has also been matched by a commitment to maintaining a high customer satisfaction rate - both on price and speed of delivery - and a concern for the environment, with a carbon offsetting scheme which supports projects to rebuild forests and a commitment to recycling.
Pinesolutions was named the Business of the Year at the 2009 EDP Business Awards.
